Longevity is not just an inherited trait. There are thousands of Aging Scientists telling us that aging is a possible affliction that can be treated and remedied. There are many theories to why we age but the two most modifiable have to do with free-radical damage to parts of our cell, particularly the mitochondria and DNA. The state and health of mitochondria and DNA determine how long and how healthy a person may live to be. So- think people exposed to smoke, toxins, pesticides, other chemicals might be at risk? Yes! What about stress? Obesity? Watch some of these videos which talk about the science of aging and what can be done about it.
The other thing to keep in mind is that living longer may or may not be what you want, but ensuring the QUALITY of those years are the best you can be is paramount. I read an article recently about saving for retirement and the expert said that we should be planning to save MORE than what we earn now as we will have MEDICAL BILLS to pay, and our families may not live as close so plan to be travelling to see them. There won't be EITHER of those if you do not have your HEALTH. Even better, start planning for the healthy option and just travel!!
